The meeting in December saw a continuation of research into the various shops and small businesses in the census for Cowling 1841 – 1901. This will probably occupy the group for several months.
The meeting heard about the full house at the Cowling Companions in late November to hear about Cowling’s rich history. A report was also heard of the visit by two members to Bradford Industrial Museum.
We also received this month some ledgers from the Wainman Estate. We hope these will add to our history knowledge. (The picture with this article is an unusual view of Wainamn’s Pinnacle, on Earl Crag, built in 1830 to be viewed from Carr Head, Wainman’s home.)
The group has decided to cancel our January 2020 meeting as it was too near the New Year. There will therefore not be an article for January. Our first meeting will therefore be Thursday 6th February.
