January saw us plan our programme for the coming year, our 15th as a group.
The main focus of our work in the first six months of 2018 is to be about the men who died serving their country 100 years ago in World War 1, 1914-18. This will not only focus on how and where they died, but their lives and families in Cowling and how different life was then. This will all be recorded on our website and could be the subject of a future talk given by the group. We should also not forget the men who returned from war and the women who lost and contributes greatly to the war effort. If you have any information or photos you would like to share please get in touch at the above website or phone 637352.
Another part of this plan is to have ready a calendar for 2019, to celebrate our 15th year, as we did our tenth.
An early group visit will be for a guided talk at the Bradford West Yorkshire Archive Service in February. Other parish visits are planned, plus continuing our recording of historic buildings.
At our February meeting, 1/2/18 former member Joan Tindale will give us a talk on her research into Cowling’s men who gave their lives.
