In November we used local maps to establish the boundaries of the three ancient manors of Cowling, which were in existence in medieval times until about the 18th century. (see separate article on ‘Three Ancient Manors – Boundaries’. We thank the work of Robin Longbottom, Chris Riley of Sutton and separately David Gulliver of Cononley for researching these manor boundaries. The picture shows the boundaries of Ickornshaw Manor, the largest. It was bordered by the county of Lancashire to the west and south west, Stott Hill Manor to the East and Collinge Manor to the North.
