Our August meeting had to be changed. The planned Cowling local history talk to Cowling Women’s Institute at Wainman’s Pinnacle had to be moved, due to unseasonal, inclement weather. The same hour long talk was held at St Andrew’s, with the addition of pictures. This plotted Cowling Parish development from a prehistory settlement on Ickornshaw Moor to the 20th century demise of the textile industry.
It was then followed by a wonderful interaction between the two groups, as Moonraker members explained artefacts and documents on display to WI members. Our refreshments, normally a cup of tea, were substantially improved by the WI’s own ‘Bake Off Champions’ assortment of homemade cakes. All agreed it had been a very beneficial, enjoyable and delicious evening.
